Enjoy the raw beauty of the Bold Coast of Maine from this 9.5-acre Cobscoot Bayfront property. The beach can be accessed by a short climb down to the waters edge.
It is in an undeveloped area with mixed wood forest along with beautiful bay vistas. A private gravel road and semi-private right of way, with the option of power winds through the large lot allowing for privacy yet convenient access. The lot is also sub-dividable if the owner so desires. The area is near several Bold Coast Trail heads, and this part of Trescott TWP is between the fishing village of Cutler with its picturesque harbor and Lubec, Maine home of West Quoddy Head State Park and the eastern most point in the United States. Trescott TWP is an unorganized territory of the state of Maine and is governed by the state.
The area is an outdoor enthusiasts dream. Boating, including kayaking and canoeing could be initiated from the property's shore front during High tides. Larger boats can be moored at an arena or trailered to the many surrounding freshwater lakes. The property allows for horseback riding, biking, hiking, snowmobiling, and ATVing. Beyond the property, there are miles of developed trail systems for hiking, ATVing and snowmobiling many accessible right from the property.
The Downeast area provides opportunities for whale watching, and ocean fishing. Guided boat tours of the islands and native wildlife are available. There are many summer and fall festivals in the surrounding towns. The Downcast area is home to many acres a blueberry barrens, conservancy land, and nature preserves. The surrounding towns of Lubec, and Machias, offer all needed conveniences. To the north is Calais, Maine and the Canadian border crossing into New Brunswick , Canada, the famous Campobello Island where The Rosevelt estate resides, or travel further north to the hillsides of Aroostook County. To the south is Ellsworth and the gateway to Acadia State park. and to the West is Bangor and the western Mountains.
The Bold Coast consists of many salt water coves and inland estuaries. Moose Cove opens into the Grand Manan Channel and the Atlantic Ocean. The property is one of the bays that mark the beginning of the Bay of Fundy. The Downeast area also is home to many recreational lakes and water sheds that have a variety of fish.
The property is located by Cutler and Lubec and is the first bay frontage property in Trescott after the Whiting town line. It is a short drive to Quoddy Head State park and Campolbello Island as well as the Cutler Land Preserve in the opposite direction. Lubec boasts the most shore land of any town in Maine (90 miles) because of its many inner bays and coves. There are numerous nature preserves and refuges that encourage public use while protecting habitats and endangered species. Lubec has over 4000 acres of preserved lands for hiking, biking and exploring while the Bold Coast Trails in the Cutler Land Preserve offers over 12,000 acres with trails along the Bold Coast as well as the upland peat bogs and blueberry fields. The Downeast Sunrise Trail system offers 96 miles of trails within Downeast Maine winding from Calais to Ellsworth along the old railroad tracks. Biking, hiking, ATV riding, horseback riding in the summer; snowmobiling and cross country skiing in the winter provide hours of recreational entertainment.
