ONE (1) RESEARCHER C' POSITION AT THE RESILIENT SOCIETY DEPARTMENT

ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence (www.eratosthenes.org.cy) of Cyprus University of Technology (www.cut.ac.cy) invites applications for one (1) position at the Researcher C' level at the Resilient Society Department of ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence. The position is open either on a full-time (100%) or part-time employment basis. The successful candidate will work under Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence commenced and prone to three commenced services as described in the “Brief description of the Services” section below.

ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence is an autonomous Centre of Excellence with Cyprus University of Technology as its sole stakeholder, specializing in earth observation, space technology and geospatial analysis. Cyprus University of Technology has a 17-year experience in earth observations and geospatial analysis. Through the "EXCELSIOR" H2020 Teaming Project (https://excelsior2020.eu/), ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence aspires to become a Digital Innovation Hub for Earth Observation and Geospatial Information by offering knowledge, responsible research, open innovation and application services capable of sustaining Cyprus' development. ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence aspires to actively contribute to the European Research Area (ERA) priorities in Atmosphere and Climate, Resilient Societies and Big Earth Data Analytics, as well as to become the reference Earth Observation/Geoinformation Centre for research and innovation in the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East and North Africa (EMMENA) region.

A core activity of ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence is to conduct high caliber, state-of-the-art research, both basic and applied. A central task is to acquire research funding for the Centre, to provide facilities to the researchers, and to support them to acquire funding for their research independently and via international and local collaborations. Collaborations with industrial partners are particularly encouraged and facilitated.

Brief Description of the Services
a) Provision of Consulting Services and Management of project processes for the Project: Garyllis Linear Park with extension to the Polemidia dam and connection to the Berengaria metropolitan park.
b) Provision of Consulting Services and Management of project processes for the Project: Linear Park Vathkia.
Services a and b aim to provide consulting services throughout the maturity phase of the project, which includes managing procedures during the implementation period once the project has secured funding. ECoE will provide support services for managing and systematically monitoring project progress, ensuring alignment with the approved schedule and objectives set by the Municipality of Kato Polemidia and Municipality of Agios Athanasios in Limassol district. ECoE’s consulting services will address both the physical execution and the financial scope of the project.
c) Upgrading and embellishment of the warehouses of the Port Authority in Latchi in the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous into a Multipurpose area of the Sea and Culture.
Service c combines the decoration of this room's interior walls with Video Walls, virtual reality and augmented reality technologies. The site will host exhibits describing the coastal history of the region and the wider Cyprus. In combination with computer graphics technologies, images and videos will be created to make unique emotions in visitors so that all the necessary knowledge will be transferred to them for the coastal area of Polis Chrysochous and Latchi.

This position concerns researchers with a postgraduate degree who will implement and / or manage and / or coordinate projects / services (a, b and c) running under ECoE or any other future / potential services secured by ECoE.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be placed in the Resilient Society Department of ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, and is expected to contribute towards shaping and advancing its research and innovation agenda by:
1. Implementing and / or managing and / or coordinating Services;
2. Participating in meetings of the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence;
3. Collaborating and coordinating employees of the three departments of the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence during Services implementation;
4. Securing financial and other resources from national, regional and international funding organizations;
5. Understanding ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence operations;
6. Working towards fulfilling ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence mission goals;
7. Engaging with government and industry bodies and institutions to raise the profile of ERATOSTHENES CoE as a research-intensive institution;
8. Ensuring that the KPIs and other performance targets as set by the Centre are delivered;
9. Undertaking any other relevant duties deemed necessary;

Qualifications
1. B.Sc. in Civil Engineer; Architectural Engineering or other relevant field;
2. Master of Science (M.Sc.) in a relevant subject, such as Civil Engineering, Architecture or other related field;
3. Previous professional experience of at least ten (10) years in the construction/management/planning/supervision of civil engineering infrastructure projects;
4. Coordinating / managing successfully completed infrastructure projects worth ten million euros in the last five years;
5. Experience in contract negotiation with commercial clients and/or governmental organizations, and/or international organizations;
6. Excellent knowledge of the English language, both verbal and in writing, is required.

Minimum Requirements for Researcher C’
This position concerns researchers at the level of Researcher C' who hold University degree, Master’s degree, documented specialized knowledge, abilities with at least 10 years experience after the degree award.

The appointment will be for twelve (12) months. The annual gross salary for the (full-time) position will range from €48947.48 to €52908.42, depending on qualifications. It is noted that there is a provision for 13th salary (the cost of the 13th salary is proportionally incorporated in the monthly remuneration).
