So far we know Kubo has been doing things at his own pace, that’s about it.
If he wants to draw something he’ll do so, if he doesn’t want to, he won’t.

I suppose he'll only really get back to it once all the anime work is wrapped up and done.

I can't imagine he's all too eager to return to a hellish weekly schedule tbh. If the arc happens, I can see it being a V-Jump thing.

Yeah, he mentionned being repulsed by it and I cannot blame it.
The dude was fighting against an industry that didn't want him anymore while drawing with a broken arm and being ill.

Absolutely. The dude got really screwed over by editors a lot through the story imo. I think there's a reason why all the mangakas that make it big tend to be so reluctant to make another manga afterwards and stick to "supervising".

I still don't understand how manga industry works. Why do some mangaka, like Kubo, have strict schedules and get rushed to finish their series, while others, like Oda, can take as long as they like with their own pacing? In the same f*cking magazine/company (Weekly Shonen Jump)?

It simply works on popularity, money, and other stuff.
Oda pretty much is the king of the industry right now so they don’t do anything to him.
Kubo was just a piece in the puzzle for them so they treated him like sh*t like pretty much all other mangakas.

As TTK said, it's a matter of popularity and profit. I also think that Jump is in a bit of a tight spot right now because two of their most popular series (MHA and JJK) are about to end (with the former basically being in its epilogue). OP has been a breadwinner for decades so the editors are happy to have Oda happy, especially while looking for other series to break through and achieve insane popularity.
But the former point can't be understated. Oda's enormous now. It's difficult for an editor to tell Oda "no" on anything. Bleach was in a bit of a downward spiral by the time its final arc began, so it was easier for an editor to tell Kubo to hurry it up versus One Piece still scoring great.

Not all contracts created are equal. Kubo was told to wrap the story up in a year's time while he was sick, there's nothing that can be done anymore at that point. He could have taken breaks but then we would have gotten a volume less content.

I was gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he had health reasons, but the Dragon Quest addiction meme sounds a lot funnier

I wouldn't expect anything before the anime wraps up.
In fact something like they did with BTW where they drop it in animated format just after it drops in manga format seems likely to me.

Nope, would’ve been announced ages ago if it was. Ditto Burn the Witch season 2.
People also seem to forget that Kubo needs Shueisha’s permission to even do it so if they say no it ain’t happening.

But it’s already happened with the anniversary chapter. You can’t just set up something this big just to never continue it.
It would be the biggest kick in the nuts and Kubo would never see the end of it.

He will look at the outcome of the anime. If the money is too much, he will draw hell.

Like I said, it’s not Kubo’s call. You really think Shueisha gives a damn if he gets an earful from angry fans for false promises?
Also Kubo may have left it on a cliffhanger but it was technically a one shot so a continuation was never guaranteed.

It’ll probably happen after the TYBW anime and whatever else comes after is over.
I’d hope that he’ll at least handle the art and story beats while someone else handles the plot.

These people just don't get what it means to wait for a never-ever. They lack experience.
The trick is that you don't.
